Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok and Exploring Iconic Landmarks

We arrived at Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and headed straight to Homm4 Sukhumvit 34, our charming boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Since early check-in wasn’t available, we dropped off our luggage and set out to explore the iconic landmarks of Bangkok:

  • Wat Arun: We were in awe of the stunning Temple of Dawn, perched along the Chao Phraya River.

  • Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha): The enormous Reclining Buddha statue was breathtaking, and we took our time exploring the peaceful temple grounds.

  • The Grand Palace: We spent hours soaking in the intricate details and history of the royal palace.

Later, we headed back to the Sukhumvit area to explore its bustling streets. The day ended with an incredible Christmas Eve concert at Siam Paragon, followed by a delicious dinner featuring authentic Thai cuisine.

Day 2: Bangkok to Pattaya

This morning, we booked a Grab taxi to Pattaya (around 1,500 Baht, 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and then decided to relax at Pattaya Beach, where we spent some time sunbathing and enjoying the clear blue water. We treated ourselves to a traditional Thai massage, which was the perfect way to unwind.

In the evening, we explored Walking Street—the vibrant nightlife here is truly unmatched. We soaked in the energy of the street and enjoyed the diverse mix of bars, restaurants, and entertainment.

Day 3: Exploring Pattaya’s Highlights

Today, we checked into Hotel Citrus Grande, a spacious property with a large pool and an amazing breakfast spread. Our adventures continued:

  • We visited the Tiger Temple (400 Baht/person), though we found the conditions a little unsettling.

  • Then, we made our way to an Elephant Sanctuary, where we got the chance to experience elephants up close. We enjoyed a 30-minute ride through a local Thai village, fed the elephants, and even posed for photos with a python!

It was an unforgettable day full of wildlife encounters and local experiences.

Day 4: Journey to Koh Jum Island

We flew back to Bangkok in the morning, then took a flight to Krabi. From Krabi, we took a private car to Laem Kruat Port, followed by a 50-minute long-tail boat ride to Koh Jum Island—a serene and peaceful destination often called the Forgotten Island.

We almost missed the last speedboat (6 PM), but luckily we were able to opt for a private slow long-tail boat (1,800 Baht) for a calm and scenic ride to the island.

Day 5: Relaxing on Koh Jum Island. We stayed at Koh Jum Sea Beach Resort, a beautiful beachside villa with stunning views. We rented a bike (350 Baht/day) and spent the day discovering the island’s hidden gems:

  • We hiked up a mountain to catch breathtaking views of the island.

  • The beaches were incredible—crystal-clear water and complete tranquility.

  • We also got to experience the local Thai village vibes and indulged in authentic Thai food.

Day 6: Day Trip to Phi Phi Islands

Today, we took a boat to Phi Phi Islands (1-hour journey). The trip was amazing! We visited Maya Bay (400 Baht/person), where the water was so clear and the sand was soft and white. Other highlights included Monkey Bay, Pileh Lagoon, and Viking Cave.

We opted for a group speedboat tour, which was much more comfortable and efficient than taking a long-tail boat. After a day of exploration, we returned to Koh Jum and caught the last boat back to Laem Kruad Pier, then transferred back to Krabi.

Day 7: Bangkok Safari World and Marine Park

Back in Bangkok, we spent the day at Safari World and Marine Park (1,500 Baht/person). The park was full of thrilling experiences:

  • We watched dolphin and bird shows, which were incredibly entertaining.

  • The safari bus ride through the open wildlife park was a highlight—we saw so many animals up close.

In the evening, we explored Sukhumvit and Nana Plaza, indulging in some street shopping and enjoying the lively nightlife.

Day 8: Ayutthaya – Ancient Ruins and Culture

We traveled to Ayutthaya today and checked into The Park Resort Ayutthaya, a cozy Airbnb near the historic park. We spent the day exploring the Wat Maha That temple, where we saw the famous Buddha head entwined in a Banyan tree—a sight we’d only seen in photos before.

We wandered around the ancient ruins, learning about Ayutthaya’s history, including its destruction by the Burmese in 1765. In the evening, we visited the Ayutthaya Night Market and sampled local treats like ice cream sandwiches and jelly pancakes.

Day 9: Floating Market Adventure

Today was all about experiencing the vibrant culture of Thailand. We spent the day at a floating market (200 Baht/person), where we hopped on a motorboat ride through the market, which was a fascinating experience. We also caught a Thai cultural fight show that was really engaging.

We shopped for unique souvenirs and treated ourselves to a relaxing Thai massage. For an extra adventure, we had the option of feeding animals at a nearby village or even going on an elephant ride.

Day 10: Bang Pa-In Royal Palace and Departure

On our last day, we visited the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace (the Summer Palace). We were lucky enough to witness a live parade by the Thai Royal Army, which was an incredible experience.

We spent the morning exploring the beautifully landscaped grounds, with its serene lake and majestic buildings. We rented a 3-wheeler electric rickshaw to explore the grounds more comfortably.

Before heading to Bangkok Airport for our departure, we made sure to do some last-minute shopping to pick up souvenirs and gifts.

End of Trip – Memories to Last a Lifetime

This trip to Thailand has been an unforgettable adventure for our family—full of rich history, breathtaking landscapes, wildlife encounters, and amazing food. We’ve made memories we’ll cherish forever. Until next time, Thailand! ✨
