Child Falling ill During an International Trip: What You Need to Know

My husband and I went to Bali and decided to spend our son's birthday in Gili Trawangan. We planned to go snorkeling and enjoy water sports on his birthday, January 4th. We were all very excited, but unfortunately, he fell sick on the night of January 3rd. The fever was likely due to the previous day's activities, as we had spent the entire day swimming and enjoying the water.

I was aware that Gili Trawangan, being an island, might not have the same level of medical facilities as a developed city. We had to skip all our water sports plans. Thankfully, I always travel with medicines and other essentials. By the afternoon of January 4th, he started feeling better. We spent the rest of the day enjoying the seaside and even got the chance to watch a movie in an open-air theater on the beach. The movie was "The Lion King," and my son was super happy. Despite the initial setback, we had a memorable day.

That night, we decorated an outdoor space with fairy lights and cut a small cake. It was a magical moment, making his birthday truly special.
